You'll need a Google Ads and Google Merchant Center account. Both accounts must be approved and active. The Merchant Center must have active products, which should have a GTIN (EAN). Your products must also be promoted via Google's free product listings or shopping ads.
To activate products for automatic discounts, you must maintain two attributes in your Merchant Center's product data feed: cost price (cost_of_goods_sold/COGS) and minimum price (auto_pricing_min_price) for each participating product. Only products for which a value is transmitted in the Minimum Price and Cost Price attributes participate in Automated Discounts. The cost price is needed so that the discounts calculated by AI do not jeopardize your profitability. The cost price (COGS) must be lower than the minimum price and be between 5-95% of the current price. These two attributes must be provided for at least 20% of the impressions of your total inventory in Merchant Center.
To get data on the performance of automatic discounts, you need to use advanced conversion tracking in the shop. The repricing.com plugin can automatically generate this advanced conversion tracking with shopping cart data (cWCD) and place it in the shop. It is necessary to record conversions via native Google Ads Tracking; imported conversions from other tools, such as Google Analytics, cannot be used for automated discounts. Based on this extended tracking, you will find daily updated performance data on the success of automatic discounts in the Google Merchant Center.
If you meet the basic requirements above, you can activate automatic discounts in your Google Merchant Center:
1. Log in to Merchant Center
2. In the main menu on the left, select “Marketing” and open the “Automatic Discounts” tab. If you don't see the “Automatic Discounts” tab, open the “Settings & Tools” section (accessible via the gear icon in the top right corner). In the Add-ons section, search for “Automated Discounts” and click “Set Up” or “Activate.”
3. As soon as the program is active in the Merchant Center, you can download the Repricing.com plugin and install it in the shop backend.
Plugins are currently available for Shopware and PrestaShop. You can find the direct download links via the shop system icons here on the page and on the subpage of your shop system. Plugins for JTL Shop and plentyOne will follow shortly. We are also working on a pro version of the plugins for all of the above shop systems, which will provide extended functionalities in conjunction with a repricing.com account.
